A healthy workplace is essential for a healthy business. But in the news lately, the word on the street is “Burnout.” Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and often physical exhaustion brought on by prolonged or repeated stress and characterized by a decrease in motivation and performance. While burnout is not a new phenomenon, the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly been an accelerant.
In this session, we will look at the causes of burnout in the workplace and share data showing that burnout is truly a global problem. We will discuss what employers can do to build mental resilience and learn how to identify and actively address burnout in ourselves and our organizations.

About the Presenters
Lisa Larimer Burtis is a white, cisgender woman. She has many roles including wife, sister, mother, “dog mom”, CEO, and therapist. Helping people find a path forward is the cornerstone of her marriage and family therapy practice. Supporting individuals, couples, and families in a way that instills hope; assists in discovering a vision for their future; and inspires recovery and healthy functioning is her super power.
Human resource specialist Lisa McCormack of Affogato Consulting has worked with various companies in development of HR programs and is an advisor with West Business Development Center. Understanding the importance of implementing a strong foundation is key to operating a safe and legal environment.
